Corrib RFC - Celebrating an Overwhelming Response to Fundraising Campaign
Corrib RFC is delighted to announce an unprecedented response to its fundraising campaign, following a devastating fire that left the club in dire straits. The overwhelming outpour of support from many sources within our community and beyond has been nothing short of heartwarming and has put the club in an excellent position to be Rugby Ready for the upcoming season.
From the moment news of the fire broke, the community rallied together in an extraordinary display of solidarity. The GoFundMe campaign, supplemented by generous offline donations, and contributions from the IRFU/Connacht Branch, surpassed our expectations and showcased the immense power of teamwork off the pitch.
The contributions came from all corners, reflecting the strong bond the club has formed with its supporters over its 42 years. Countless individuals, local businesses, rugby clubs and clubs from other sports stepped up to lend a helping hand, providing not just financial support but also invaluable services, raffle prizes, and organising events to bolster our fundraising efforts.
With the funds raised, Corrib RFC is well on its way to returning to the rugby pitch. Plans are already in motion to restock jerseys and training gear, thanks to the unwavering support from the IRFU and Connacht Branch. The club's Executive Committee, along with three sub-committees, will diligently work on a detailed project plan to ensure that every penny is utilised optimally for the club's revival and future growth.
"We are deeply moved and immensely grateful for the incredible support we've received. The response from our community and beyond has been truly overwhelming, showing us that rugby is not just a sport, but a binding force that unites us all. On behalf of the club and all of it’s members We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have made donations so far. Your generosity has not only given us hope for the future but also reminded us of the true spirit of sportsmanship and community that lies at the heart of rugby." Eugene Kenny, Corrib RFC President.
"We are committed to honouring the trust and support you have bestowed upon us. Our focus now is on laying the foundation for a brighter and stronger future for Corrib RFC.” Paul Gibbons, Corrib RFC Trustee.
Looking ahead, the club is eager to welcome back players, fans and volunteers alike for an exciting pre-season, once again uniting in the sport they love. As the echoes of rugby fill the air, we will stand together, stronger than ever before.
Once again, Corrib RFC extends its profound gratitude to all the individuals, businesses, and sports clubs that have played a part in this remarkable recovery journey. Your compassion and dedication have proven that the spirit of rugby transcends the boundaries of the pitch.
