U16 boys playing with U17 boys for the 2021/2022 season
Over the past 18 months Connacht Rugby spent time reviewing and improving how youth rugby is run within the province. The emphasis has been on more games and encouraging school rugby alongside club rugby. These improvements have been rolled out this season.
The key challenge with this rollout for clubs is that there will be weekends where a lot of the clubs’ teams will be scheduled to play at the same time. This means players who previously might have played up a grade to help field a full team for the grade above won’t be able to now so each age group will require a full squad.
This puts pressure on age groups with low numbers.
At Corrib RFC, this change impacts our U17s.
The best way for all our playing members to be involved in competitive rugby this season is for our Corrib RFC U16 boys to play up a grade and amalgamate with the U17. This means we can now field a full team across these 2 age grades at U17 level, and our current U16s will benefit from playing up a level.
The head coach for this group is Mike Lee. 087 1152366.
Training is currently on Tuesdays @ 7pm.
